Supervision

Integrative, relational supervision for counsellors, therapists and practitioners in Wilmslow, Alderley Edge and online

I offer supervision for counsellors and therapists who work integratively and value the quality of the supervisory relationship as the foundation for good practice.

My approach to supervision is relational, reflective and collaborative.  I work with different models of supervision and also utilise applied neuroscience as a supportive framework to deepen understanding of clinical work, nervous system responses and practitioner wellbeing.

Supervision is shaped around you, your clients and the work you do.

The purpose of supervision

Supervision provides a dedicated space to reflect on your clinical work, professional development and the impact of the work on you as a practitioner. It is a place where thinking, feeling and learning can happen together, within a safe and supportive relationship.

It is a professional practice support, distinct from therapy, which aims to strengthen your competence, confidence and clinical presence while also supporting your wellbeing and ongoing development as a practitioner

Supervision allows you to:

  • Explore case work thoughtfully

  • Reflect on clinical formulation and ethical decisions

  • Develop professional awareness and confidence

  • Recognise and manage countertransference and emotional impact

  • Build resilience and reflective capacity within practice

For me, effective supervision rests on a strong working alliance, one that allows honesty, curiosity and challenge to coexist. When the supervisory relationship feels containing and collaborative, it becomes easier to explore complexity, uncertainty and growth.

My approach to supervision

I work with counsellors and therapists who practice integratively, drawing on different models and approaches to meet the individual needs of each client. Supervision mirrors this way of working.

Rather than applying a fixed framework, we work flexibly and responsively, attending to what is emerging in the clinical work and in you as a practitioner.

Supervision is not just about case discussion, it’s about supporting the whole practitioner. In our supervision, we pay attention to:

  • Emotional and relational dynamics

  • Ethical and professional responsibilities

  • Clinical understanding and formulation

  • Your development as a reflective practitioner

  • Your nervous system resonses

I aim to provide a safe space where your experience is respected, your thinking is supported and your clinical confidence can grow.

The importance of relationship and alliance

The supervisory relationship itself is a key part of the work and I endeavour to create a working relationship that feels:

  • Warm, respectful and non-judgemental

  • Collaborative rather than directive

  • Supportive while also offering gentle challenge

  • Paced with your capacity and experience

This relational foundation allows us to explore client work, emotional impact and professional dilemmas in a way that feels safe and meaningful.

Who supervision is for

I offer supervision to:

  • Integrative counsellors and therapists

  • Trainee and qualified practitioners

  • Therapists working with trauma, stress or complex presentations

  • Practitioners who value reflection and relational depth

  • Clinicians seeking a thoughtful, collaborative supervisory relationship

I welcome supervisees at different stages of their professional journey and tailor supervision to your experience, setting and requirements.

What supervision with me is like

Supervision sessions offer space to:

  • Reflect on client work and clinical formulation

  • Explore relational dynamics and countertransference

  • Think through ethical questions and professional responsibilities

  • Attend to the emotional impact of the work

  • Develop confidence and clarity in your clinical decisions

  • Integrate theory, experience and reflective insight

My aim is to support you to feel held, supported and encouraged in your work.

How we might work together

Sessions are shaped collaboratively and include:

  • Discussion of client material

  • Reflective exploration of themes and patterns

  • Ethical and professional considerations

  • Relational and systemic perspectives

  • Nervous system awareness and self-care

  • Linking theory, neuroscience and practice in meaningful ways

Supervision is an evolving process that responds to your needs over time. As it is a collaborative process, we will discuss and agree this together, and review regularly.

I am committed to offering supervision that supports ethical practice, professional growth and practitioner wellbeing within a thoughtful, relational framework.
