Rewire your brain for less stress and more resilience.

Most of my clients arrive thinking something is wrong with them and that they are “broken”. Nothing is wrong with you. Your brain just learned to adapt and respond to a certain situation. That’s not a disorder. That’s a pattern. And patterns can change.

THINK well. FEEL well. BE well.

About me

Hi, I’m Lisa

Hi, I’m Lisa. I’m a straight-talking therapist who uses brain science, not jargon, to help people feel calmer, more in control, and better able to handle life’s challenges.

I use the brain-mind-body connection to help people reduce stress and anxiety, process difficult experiences, and build the kind of emotional resilience that actually lasts (Not just on the good days).

As someone who has dealt with many of the things my clients talk to me about, understanding this connection changed everything for me.

My mission is to help others do the same.

What is anxiety, really?

Most people think anxiety is a disorder. But the truth is that it is a symptom that has the potential to become a larger problem. It is actually your nervous system doing exactly what it was designed to do, just potentially without an off switch.

The high alert, racing thoughts, overthinking and rumination, the sense that something bad is always about to happen and constant worry about the future isn’t a character flaw, weakness or mean you’re broken.

It’s a pattern your nervous system learned, probably for very good reasons at some point, and hasn’t found a reason to stop yet. Understanding that changes everything.

Not because it makes the feelings go away, but because it puts you back in control.
You’re not at the mercy of your own brain. You have far more agency than you realise and you can work with it. That’s the starting point. Not a diagnosis, a clear understanding of what’s actually going on.

“Tried everything and not sure this will be any different?”

Good. Sceptics are exactly the kind of people I work best with. You’re curious, you ask the right questions, and you realise quickly that you’re in control of the process. That’s where the work actually happens.

What I offer

You don’t have to know what kind of therapy or approach you need.

Most people don’t when they first get in touch they just know they want to feel differently. What I offer is one integrative service that blends counselling, psychotherapy, EMDR, coaching, and neuroscience education, whatever your brain needs, in whatever combination, as we go.

All routes lead to the same outcome: learning to regulate your nervous system, reframe the patterns that aren’t working, and rebuild something that serves you better. That’s the work. It’s practical, collaborative, and grounded in a bio-psycho-social framework understanding how everything is connected, not guesswork, not guesswork.

Why neuroscience matters

Working with your brain, not against it

Your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours aren’t random. They’re shaped by your lifetime of experiences, your brain and nervous system and your environment.

They’re shaped by your brain, your nervous system, and the experiences that have built up over a lifetime.

When life becomes overwhelming, your brain sticks to what it knows and runs patterns to conserve energy and keep you safe. That’s not a malfunction; it’s your nervous system doing exactly what it is designed to do. The problem is that those patterns may no longer be helpful, and those protective responses can be a bit too quick to take over, keeping you stuck in high alert for longer than necessary.

Understanding your nervous system helps you see why stress feels so consuming, why you react the way you do, why switching off feels impossible, and how patterns learned in the past are still shaping the present.

But here’s the good news: your brain is like playdough! Ok, so not literally, but it can adapt, change and be moulded to create more helpful and healthier patterns. Neuroplasticity means new neural pathways can form at any age, with the right kind of support. That’s a real opportunity. It’s the science behind everything I do.

What clients say

"Lisa's approach to mental health is revolutionary. My whole life I had felt a victim to my trauma. I now love myself and the person I've become."
Els, Bristol
Having completed a series of counselling sessions with Lisa, I would not hesitate to recommend her. I was looking for support with managing stress and overwhelm. Each week we explored tools that I could take away and use in my own time. Lisa also followed up every session with a recap and useful links to articles and podcasts that helped to reinforce her advice. Lisa managed to help me self reflect and face those fears that I had been trying to ignore. I feel calmer and more focussed now that I have tools to help me face my challenges and recognise my own self sabotage. I have no doubt I will have further sessions with Lisa in the future as she has been kind, patient and supportive through the whole process and I gained far more from the experience than I ever expected. Thank you so much Lisa for making a difference.
Claire, Wilmslow
Lisa is a brilliant therapist. She is kind, knowledgeable, incredibly easy to talk to and will put you at ease instantly with her warm nature. I had EMDR therapy with Lisa which I was really nervous about but Lisa explained it clearly, answered all my questions and alleviated any worries and reservations I had. I’m so glad she did because the session was transformative. And she made me laugh and giggle throughout which has never been my usual experience of therapy! I highly, highly recommend Lisa, you won’t regret it!
Laurie, Cambridge
Brilliant. Life changing. I have felt like my old self (but with more wisdom from learning my hard way) and my anxiety has almost totally gone. Lisa was kind, patient, innovative and went with my flow. Can I give her 6 stars?
Rachel, Hampshire
"Lisa gets it and gets you. She's engaging, uses her own experience and expertise. There's no pretence. I would recommend her without hesitation."
Angie, Clevedon

Next steps

Deciding to start is the hardest part.

Everything after that, we figure out together.

We always begin with a free 30-minute call, no commitment, no obligation. We’ll talk about what’s been going on, what you’re hoping will be different, and whether I’m the right person to help. If I’m not, I’ll tell you and point you somewhere that is. (I know that sounds like something everyone says. I actually do it.)

If we’re a good fit, we’ll decide whether in-person sessions in Wilmslow or Alderley Edge make more sense, or online. Then we get to work.

I can’t promise it will be easy, but it will absolutely be worth it.
